Ribeira do Neiva Basic School is a rural school, with about 300 students of the 2nd cycle (5th and 6th grade; 10 to 11 years old) and 3rd cycle (7th to 9th grades) of Basic Education, coming from a community where agriculture and pastoralism play a fundamental role in supplementing family income.
Like other Portuguese school clusters, this school cluster has technical-pedagogical services that include school libraries, psychology and guidance services and other areas of socio-educational support such as school social action, the student and family information and support office and a multidisciplinary team to support inclusive education. These services work in conjunction and are fundamental in the connection between the school and the family with multiple interactions between all educational actors (students, parents/guardians, teachers, non-teaching staff) clearly contributing to the growth of students, their academic success and the construction of their paths to active life. The Parent and Guardian Association plays an important role in building solutions that contribute to a greater and better involvement of families in the school life of their students.
In this school cluster there are several projects and programs of national and international scope that structure the school cluster’s action, such as the ERASMUS+ Projects, the Health Education Project, the National Reading Plan, the Eco-schools Program, the Cultural Project of the National Arts Plan Group, integration into the National Cinema Plan, the European Club, the Youth Parliament Program, the Science Club at School, the School Sports Club, the School Radio Club, the Meteorology Club, the School Participatory Budget, and the activities promoted and carried out based on and in the ARTEC Room, a room that combines digital involvement with technology and allows for the development of art, technology and digital development.
The school cluster has partnerships with various partner entities, namely the Municipality of Vila Verde, Parish Councils, Vila Verde Music Academy, Vila Verde School Library Network, University of Minho, Braga Science House – Living Science Center, Vila Verde Knowledge House, Vila Verde Health Center, Europe Direct Minho, Barcelos, Vila Verde Child and Youth Protection Commission, Republican National Guard – Safe School, Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Verde, House of Knowledge, Red Cross of Prado, Nautical Club of Prado, Sports Club of Ribeira do Neiva, Casa do Povo of Ribeira do Neiva and other sports clubs and associations and institutions/companies of the municipality.
